CONSUMER PRODUCTS CASE STUDIES:
I: What’s an effective Marketing Strategy for a Semolina Brand?
In the South Indian states, where consumers take their semolina brands seriously, one brand was unsure of their brand’s strengths and if they were spending their marketing money efficiently.
Runaway Insights carried out an “Attitude & Preferences” sample survey with consumers, followed by a qualitative survey with retailers of semolina brands. The study gauged factors like; the brand recall, advertising effectiveness, buying behavior, packaging and price sensitivity among homemakers.
Our recommendations resulted in improved brand communications and probably savings on distribution costs.
II: To Buy an Edible Ice Manufacturing Plant … or Not to Buy?
Our client, a publicly traded company, had an opportunity to buy an Edible Ice making factory at an attractive price.
However, before making the investment decision, they wanted to understand the existing trends in the Edible Ice market, its growth, competition and its peculiar logistics, pricing and branding challenges.
Runaway Insights conducted a study in a metro city amongst buyers of edible ice products (managers at restaurants, bars, party planners) and consumers (bar patrons, restaurant customers, etc.) to understand the awareness and preferences among different brands/suppliers.
We presented the findings on finishing to the client. Our research indicated very limited brand preference, even among bulk buyers, indifference of restaurant customers about the quality of ice being used for their drinks, and upfront costs associated with the manufacture and transportation challenges.
Our final recommendation for the clients was to adopt a very cautious approach for this investment decision.
